What We Sharpen – Hand Pruners And Long Handled Pruners

Bypass Hand Pruner. Notice the stem is between the cutting blade and the pusher blade. The cutting blade "bypasses" the pusher blade and that cuts the stem. WE DO SHARPEN BYPASS PRUNERS!

Anvil Style Hand Pruner. Notice the groove running down the Anvil. The cutting blade must go into that groove to cut the stem. Most Anvil Style Pruners Are NOT designed to be sharpened, They want the blade replaced. WE DO NOT SHARPEN ANVIL STYLE PRUNERS

What is written above also applies to the long handled pruners as well!!!!   

If we were to try to sharpen the blade on an Anvil style pruner, the edge of the blade will shrink enough to no longer go into the groove and consequently will no longer cut.
